Type and Scope of services to be performed:

This intergovernmental agreement clarifies and defines the relationship between Evergreen Park and Recreation District and Denver with respect to EPRD’s continued maintenance, operation and use of a portion of Dedisse Park including Evergreen Lake (excluding the golf course) for recreational activities and programs. The first contract for this purpose was established in 1981 between Evergreen Metro District and Jefferson County and soon thereafter Jefferson County entered into an assignment agreement with EPRD in which EPRD largely assumed the rights and obligations in regard to maintenance, operation and recreational programming around Evergreen Lake.

Since that time EPRD has successfully built, operated and maintained recreational facilities and provided programs within that portion of Dedisse Park located in the vicinity of Evergreen Lake for the benefit of Denver residents and the general public. Denver desires to allow ERPD to continue providing maintenance and operation services and recreational activities and programs for the benefit of Denver residents and the general public.  This contract defines the terms in which EPRD will cooperate and collaborate with Denver’s Department of Park and Recreation with respect to existing and future public benefits from EPRD’s current and future operations, recreational programming and improvements at Dedisse Park.

This contract advances the Every Dollar and Uniquely Denver principles of the Game Plan for a Healthy City. Along with the services provided by EPRD, this collaboration also provides for reinvestment of a portion of EPRD’s revenue in Denver’s parks and recreation resources and also expands access and increases opportunities for Denver residents to connect to Denver’s nature and culture through shared use of park amenities and DPR’s outdoor recreational programming. The recently completed Outdoor Adventure and Alternative Sports master plan identifies Evergreen Lake as a desired winter and summer activity hub and collaboration with EPRD will be a key ingredient in the success of that plan.

This agreement will further formalize the contractual requirements and allow EPRD to continue to provide recreational programming for the benefit of the public.
