Approves a grant agreement with Center for African American Health for $823,850 and through 12-31-2025, through the Healthy Food Denver’s Kids Initiative, to provide education about nutrition and healthy eating using the community gardens and a teaching kitchen, focused on Council Districts 8 and 9 (ENVHL-202368593). Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Center for African American Health will increase access to evidence informed nutrition standards, healthy eating environments and food skills for children, family and caregivers’ nutrition education in Denver through their programming. CAAH renovations include a community garden and teaching kitchen that will allow them to offer culturally responsive cooking and health education classes to the families they serve, including participants in their parent education programs: Strengthening Families Program and 24/7 Dad Fatherhood Program.
