A resolution approving a proposed Third Amendatory Agreement between the City and County of Denver and The GrowHaus to increase access to healthy food through no or low-cost food boxes, provide SNAP and WIC outreach and enrollment support, and healthy food focused youth and multigenerational programming.
Amends a grant agreement with The GrowHaus, by adding $498,116 for a new total of $1,417,967 and one year for a new end date of 7-31-2023, through funding from the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids Initiative, to increase access to healthy food through no or low-cost food boxes, provide SNAP and WIC outreach and enrollment support, and healthy food focused youth and multigenerational programming, located in multiple locations in Council Districts 6, 8 and 9 (ENVHL- 202055346-00 / ENVHL-202264103). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 11-28-2022. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 9-21-2022.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
Funding from HFDK will provide immediate hunger relief to youth and families living in Globeville and Elyria-Swansea, while supporting long-term, community-led solutions to food justice. Families are able to access a no-cost or low-cost food box depending on their needs and connect with programming related to growing and cooking healthy food. Importantly, we are also providing SNAP / WIC outreach and enrollment support to ensure long-term food access.
