Executive Summary with Rationale and Impact:
Detailed description of the item and why we are doing it. This can be a separate attachment.
This bill request establishes the “Denver Construction Careers Contribution Fund”, Fund number 17806, in the Economic Opportunity Special Revenue Fund Series.
The City recently authorized an opt-out contribution to be applied to residential and commercial building permit charges, administered by Community Planning and Development, that would be dedicated to fund programs operated by City partners that support the construction talent pipeline. This bill request creates a special revenue fund to receive the new contributions, as well as any future contributions collected through similar charges on city-issued permits, and to pay expenses to City partners to support programs that develop the construction talent pipeline in Denver, including apprenticeships, curricula, internships, and national certifications.
The expending authority of the new grant fund will be the Executive Director of the Denver Economic Development and Opportunity. The Fund will be revenue-based and non-lapsing.
