A resolution approving a proposed Agreement between the City and County of Denver and Mental Health Center of Denver for expansion of the Denver Co-Responder program with the Denver Police Department.
Approves a contract with the Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD) for $1,227,161 and through 1-31-21 for the expansion of the Denver Co-Responder program funded by the 2019 Caring for Denver grant (POLIC-202054895). The last regularly scheduled Council meeting within the 30-day review period is on 9-14-20. The Committee approved filing this item at its meeting on 8-12-20.

Type and Scope of services to be performed:
The Denver Police Department was awarded funding from Caring for Denver to expand its successful Co-Responder program. The funds were made available to the City and County of Denver through Caring for Denver from the successful ballot measure passed by Denver voters in 2018. The Co-Responder program pairs mental health clinicians with police officers and focuses on responding to calls for service involving individuals with suspected or known mental health needs. The Mental Health Center of Denver will add ten Behavioral Health Clinicians, four Case Mangers, one Evaluator, one Data Analyst, and one Developer with this expansion. Many of the clinician staff services will be eligible for Medicaid, Medicare or other third-party benefit plan reimbursement and these revenue sources will be the initial payment mechanism. All non-covered, non-reimbursable services will be covered through this contract.
